Gothic, ghosts, del Toro....oh my!

The trailer for Crimson Peak (just released today) excites me to no end...I LOVE LOVE LOVE Gothic horror/ghost stories! Bonus – it’s written and directed by Guiermo del Toro (Mama, Hellboy II, & Pan’s Labyrinth) so you know it’s going to be seriously creepy and deliciously fun! This is my kind of ghost story similar to The Woman in Black, The Awakening, and Bram Stroker’s Dracula. Actors include Tom Hiddleston, Charlie Hunnam, Jessica Chastain, and Mia Wasikowska.

Can’t wait for its release in October (tentative) BUT hopefully if we’re lucky we’ll get it at TIFF. I’m just hoping tickets won’t be too hard to come by and if Only Lovers Left Alive is indicative of ticket sales last year at TIFF then I may have to resort to some out of the box thinking to score them!

And just to get you excited here’s the gist of the plot:

Set in the 19th Century, aspiring author Edith Cushing (Mia Wasikowska) falls for the enigmatic Sir Thomas Sharpe (Tom Hiddleston) in the wake of a family tragedy. Despite her feelings for childhood friend Dr. Alan McMichael (Charlie Hunnam), she marries Sharpe and moves into his dilapidated country mansion in the isolate mountains of Northern England where he also lives with his sister Lucille (Jessica Chastain). Nothing appears as it seems – certainly not the Thomas, or Lucille. Can Edith escape the ghosts of the past, madness and mayhem of a house which seems to “breathe, bleed, and remember”?

Enjoy the trailer….
